Description
The Senior Accountant oversees general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. The Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end closing procedures. This also includes ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all their accounting tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform monthly journal entries for month-end close
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts to ensure accurate reporting
- Maintain sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
- Review expense reports monthly
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
- Assist with audit preparations and 990’s
- Assist with annual budgeting process and forecasts
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Build and maintain cross-functional partnerships, fostering collaboration and teamwork
- Communicate effectively and positively with all staff and managers
- Assist and support a team of two accountants (AR, AP)
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager to evaluate and enhance departmental processes
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
- Ensure work is efficient and accurate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience or related
- Possess broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting
- Must be able to problem solve and resolve conflicts with good interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner, both verbal and written
- Self-reliant, highly motivated, and positive attitude
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software as necessary; experience with Intacct, a plus
- Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license in good standing or have the ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license
- Performs work in an office setting
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs, with reasonable accommodations
