Responsibilities
- Positive contribution to the collaborative culture of the 3K-12 School Counseling Team and broader Primary School teams
- Construct School Counseling experiences that support students, support the diversity of each student, and demonstrate a strong commitment to the best interest of each student.
- Daily documentation of services into SCUTA (school counselor documentation software)
- Timely follow-up within 48 hours with all concerned parties (including the student, outside clinicians, family, and appropriate faculty)
- Demonstrate effective collaboration and timely communication with the Head of School Counseling and the Primary School Leadership Council
- Deliver school counseling direct and indirect services and school counseling programming to all students 5K-2nd
- Provide classroom guidance lessons within each grade on a monthly basis, including child protection curriculum (Think First, Stay Safe) with all Lower Primary students
- Adhere to AIS School Counseling policy and procedures in regard to mandated reporting, self-harm, and all mental health concerns
- Effective social, emotional, and academic school counseling
- A relevant Master’s degree in the field of counseling (school counseling preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the counseling field
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a school counselor in an international or independent school
- The successful candidate should have a passion for school counseling and extensive experience in the field of counseling
- Enthusiastic about school counseling within a multicultural and multilingual environment. Flexibility of approach, within ASCA and ISCA standards and a collaborative style, are essential
- A commitment to equity and inclusion, inquiry, and experiential-based pedagogy is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
- Enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural and multilingual environment with young learners
- Proficiency in English required, with additional advanced proficiency in Spanish, French, German or Chinese strongly preferred
- Experienced with Restorative Practices and/or Responsive Classroom
- Experience or training in Primary Years Programme (PYP) schools is preferred
