The magazine includes a portfolio of ancillary publications and lines of business across print, digital, events and custom content creation.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Marketing and Events Coordinator to join our creative team. This role drives Atlanta Magazine’s marketing efforts and works closely with both local and national advertising sales teams, event portfolios, and overall brands. Ideal candidates are creative problem solvers, detail oriented, and passionate about connecting sponsors, partners, and advertisers with engaged audiences and Atlanta Magazine’s portfolio of businesses.
Overview of responsibilities
- This position reports to the Events Director, and President & Publisher.
- Works in collaboration with the Events Director to support magazine events through sales, marketing collateral, promotion, and PR.
- Supports logistics, set-up, and onsite execution of Atlanta Magazine’s signature events and brand activations.
- Creates and manages the marketing plans and execution of those plans for all events.
- Spearheads event sponsor activations in concert with sales reps and Events Director.
- Maintain accurate record of budgets, expenditures, and ROI.
- Manages the social media strategy for the magazine’s events.
- Owns all promotional campaigns for Atlanta magazine events and programs, including print, digital, and partnership marketing plans for each event/program; working within ticketing platforms; creating or directing the creation of assets for print and digital; coming up with promotional ideas/offers for ticket sales; and any other support needed for promoting events and programs.
- Support the sales team and create sponsor decks/presentations and proposals for new business development efforts with strategic thinking, ideas, and research.
- Review and analyze the marketing/communications plans around all events to ensure the marketing plans for all events are well thought out and executed on budget with the goal of producing outstanding experiences for our sponsors, advertisers and attendees.
- Identify opportunities to promote all lines of business and execute a plan for promotion and publicity.
- Identify all collateral needs to support the local and national sales teams. Create these collateral materials in a timely manner and educate the sales team on these materials.
- Proactively identify opportunities in the market and acts on them through marketing initiatives.
- Work closely with the publisher to establish brand guidelines and client proposals for all marketing and sales collateral.
- Ability to analyze research data and create a sales “story” from that research.Ability to do a competitive analysis of our products vs. those of our competition and create a compelling story to arm local and national sales team members to overcome hurdles.
- Collaborate with the Digital Manager to identify and execute digital marketing collateral and marketing plans around specific sales initiatives and needs.

- Prioritize revenue development and growth.
- Seek opportunities and partnerships to create a best-in-class marketing strategy that is tailored to the Atlanta area. Comfortable with media appearances, media partnerships, etc.
- Cross-functional collaboration across all departments.
- Well-versed in all lines of business to effectively communicate the key benefits and attributes throughout the sales and marketing process.
- Collaborate closely with the Digital Manager, Editorial Team, and Sales Teams to enhance communication and information sharing and promote the magazine(s) – especially through social channels.
- Seek group/discount subs for Atlanta Magazine – i.e. Real Estate program.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of Marketing experience, including working with Sales Teams.
- Experience assisting with events from inception to completion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Power Point, Canva and Excel. Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Excellent copy-writing skills copy editing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the Atlanta media market/landscape is a plus.
