The Community Living Assistant is a critical member of our ministry by creating a safe, stable, and healthy community while encouraging camaraderie and a sense of belonging among the clients.

 

We have both Full-time and Part-time roles on this team.

 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the activity of clients ensuring safety, security, and compliance with house rules by walking the facility frequently, being stationed in the dining hall, monitoring cameras, and being engaged in client activities
  • Conducts orientation of community living guidelines, facility layout, and basic living classes
  • Documents records of events that occur during shifts, as well as thorough incident reports using Salesforce and Microsoft Office by the end of the shift
  • Enhances relationships by demonstrating effective problem-resolution skills
  • Assists clients with within guidelines when processing issues and conflict resolution using de-escalation techniques
  • Administers medication and documents consumption in a log per the medication policy of the program
  • Escalates to Community Living Leader, clients who present a heightened behavioral challenge and/or have a special need
  • Checks for contraband in and around the facility through general observation, room or package/purse searches per the search, contraband, and weapons protocols
  • Serves as liaison to Client Support Services regarding client community living concerns, needs, and emergencies by providing notes in Salesforce and email communication
  • Plans and facilitates activities for clients that build community and promote spiritual growth
  • Supervises and assists residents with community cleaning
  • Cleans and prepares rooms for new clients
  • Supervises and assists in facilitating volunteer opportunities
  • Assists with intake as needed

Position Requirements:

  • Prior experience in homeless services, crisis intervention, addiction recovery, mental health support, or ministry work is a plus.
  • Experience in a 24/7 residential program, shelter environment, or community outreach is preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and crisis response is highly beneficial.
  • Efficient with Microsoft Office applications

 

Physical Requirements:

  • The position is located on a large multi-building property, requiring frequent movement between facilities throughout the day.
  • Must be physically able to walk significant distances, climb stairs, and navigate between buildings in various weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.).
  • Requires the ability to stand for extended periods, particularly during intake interviews, group orientations, or crisis interventions.
  • May involve occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.), such as assisting clients with belongings or setting up program materials.
  • Work environment includes office spaces, dormitory-style housing, meeting rooms, chapel, dining areas, and outdoor spaces, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to respond quickly to urgent situations, including walking across campus or assisting with client needs in different buildings.
  • Must be comfortable working in an active, sometimes unpredictable environment with individuals in various stages of addiction recovery, mental health struggles, or personal crisis.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and potential on-call shifts as needed.
