What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front End or "Pay" Loader Operator position at Atlantic Carbon Group Inc?
The Front End or "Pay" Loader Operator is responsible for operating a straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor and/or track-type vehicle equipped with a front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket. The role involves lifting and transporting coal, run-of-mine coal, overburden, and other designated bulk materials to and from storage, disposal, or processing areas. This includes feeding conveyors, hoppers, or chutes, and loading trucks or rail cars while adhering to safety and operational guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Start engine, shift gears, press pedals, and turn the steering wheel to operate the loader.
- Move levers to lower and tilt the bucket, driving the loader forward to force the bucket into bulk material.
- Raise and tilt the bucket when filled, drive the vehicle to the worksite, and dump material as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning the loader.
- Report mechanical, electrical, or safety issues to the supervisor promptly.
- Assist mechanics with field servicing or repairs of the loader on an as-needed basis.
- Maintain, record, and report load counts as directed by the supervisor.
- Operate the loader scale for accurate measurements.
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment.
