Job Summary:
The Central Supply Coordinator is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of medical supplies and equipment within a long-term care facility. This role ensures that all necessary supplies are stocked, distributed efficiently, and available for resident care while adhering to facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Track expiration dates and remove expired items as needed.
- Distribution & Stocking:
- Ensure proper distribution of supplies to nursing units and other departments.
- Organize and maintain storage areas for easy access and efficiency.
- Restock medical supply carts and emergency kits as needed.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to infection control and OSHA regulations regarding storage and handling of medical supplies.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous and expired materials.
- Assist in regulatory compliance audits related to supply management.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with nursing staff and department heads to assess supply needs.
- Provide training on proper use and storage of medical supplies.
- Address supply-related concerns and troubleshoot issues promptly.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in healthcare administration or supply chain management preferred).
- Experience in inventory management, procurement, or central supply within a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment commonly used in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move supplies (up to 50 lbs).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
