Description

About the GeoEconomics Center

In December 2020, the Atlantic Council officially launched a state-of-the-art GeoEconomics Center to address an urgent need to restore confidence in the open, rules-based system the US and its allies have championed over the past 75 years. Without understanding and adapting to the changing global economy and geopolitical environment, the United States and its allies will never be able to match the success of the post-war economic boom. On the current path, the United States and Europe will slowly cede global economic leadership to a rising power and a fractured world that will rewrite the system according to its own rules and values. The devastation wrought by COVID-19 will only accelerate these trend lines. Our ambition is to help change this trajectory. In only the first few months, the new GeoEconomics Center has established itself as the go-to place at the intersection of economics, finance, and foreign policy. The Center bridges the divide between these oft-siloed sectors and becomes a translation hub, with the goal of helping shape a better global economic future. The Center is organized around three core pillars: 1) The Future of Capitalism; 2) The Future of Money; and 3) The Economic Statecraft Initiative.

Overview of the Role

The Atlantic Council seeks a talented organizer, planner and implementer for a full-time Manager position to serve in its GeoEconomics Center. The Manager for Strategy and Operations will be an integral part of the team supporting the Center’s broad mission with a focus on project management, budgeting, and operations. Reporting to the Center’s Deputy Director, the Manager will be at the heart of a dynamic Center, where no two weeks are the same.

The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, communicate effectively, and enjoy the complexity of helping to build a rapidly growing program. The candidate should have a strong background in executive support, scheduling, and project management. Experience or an academic background in economics, finance, and foreign affairs is a plus but not essential, though the successful candidate should feel committed to the Atlantic Council’s core mission of renewing the Atlantic community. The position requires a strong aptitude for organizing programs and events, extraordinary attention to detail, and a proven aptitude for managing the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced Center. Finally, the candidate will have a desire to excel in the position and advance in the organization.

This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $75,000 to $85,000.
