Summary
Atlantic Fabricating Company, a women-owned metal fabrication and machining business, is seeking a skilled Part-Time Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves assembling precision mechanical systems, with each project presenting unique challenges. You will work closely with the Project Manager and Operations Manager to ensure high-quality, efficient assembly. This position requires mechanical assembly experience, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and proficiency in using tools and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to assemble components accurately.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery such as lathes, press brakes, and drills for assembly.
- Follow detailed work instructions to ensure precision and adherence to specifications.
- Perform mechanical assembly and basic electrical wiring as needed.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure assembled parts meet required standards.
- Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of assembly tools and equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies and ensuring a safe work environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members and management to meet production deadlines and maintain quality standards.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using assembly tools and machinery (e.g., lathes, presses, and drills).
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precise measurements and tolerances.
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly within manufacturing, aerospace, energy, or similar industries preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and quality control processes is a plus.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a proactive mindset.
- Physically capable of lifting materials up to 50 lbs and working in a hands-on environment.
