Job Description: Mechanical Assembler
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling large power units and AC units using a variety of power and hand tools. These units vary in size, with each unit typically being the size of a small car. You will work off blueprints and collaborate with a team to assemble units from start to finish (not an assembly line setup). This position requires the ability to work in tight spaces, including crawling under and climbing on top of units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble preformed sheet metal parts using tools such as drills, wrenches, high-pressure carts, screwdrivers, hammers, and other equipment as necessary.
- Assemble and pressure test valves and similar components.
- Read and interpret assembly and sub-assembly drawings and sketches to ensure accurate and efficient assembly.
- Work as part of a team to assemble units from start to finish, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Safely operate mechanical equipment, always considering personal safety and the safety of fellow employees.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in your work area to ensure a clean and organized environment.
- Keep an accurate daily log of work completed on manufacturing and/or production travelers.
- Crawl under and climb on top of units as needed during assembly.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by your immediate supervisor or higher-level supervisors.
What You Will Bring to the Table:
- Experience in assembling preformed sheet metal parts and using mechanical equipment.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Ability to work safely in and around restricted spaces and uneven terrain.
- Ability to climb ladders while carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Ability to interpret assembly and sub-assembly drawings and sketches with accuracy.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to crawl under and climb on top of units.
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain and work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, kneel, bend, and stand for long periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
