- Position: Accounting Manager
- Location: Middlesex County, MA
- Schedule: 2 days in-office
- Compensation: $140K - $150K Bonus Excellent Benefits
REQUIRED TO APPLY:
- BS of Accounting required
- CPA preferred, but not required
- 7 years of corporate accounting experience with a large publicly traded company (Manufacturing/life science preferred)
- SAP experience required
- Inventory Accounting experience or exposure required
- Must be currently living in MA and able to get into the office at least 2 days/week
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Supervise and guide a team of accountants to ensure accurate and timely completion of daily, monthly, and annual accounting tasks.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and training to accounting staff.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and reports prepared by team members.
- Develop and maintain departmental procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Oversee the maintenance of SAP for accounting purposes, ensuring efficient use of the system for financial reporting, inventory management, and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in the SAP system, performing regular audits and corrections as necessary.
- Manage aspects of inventory accounting, including the tracking of inventory transactions, valuation, and reconciliation.
- Ensure proper recording of inventory purchases, cost of goods sold (COGS), and adjustments in SAP.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile physical inventory with the general ledger.
- Oversee the process for inventory write-offs, adjustments, and reserve provisions, ensuring adherence to accounting standards.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
- Prepare detailed reports on inventory-related financial data, including turnover ratios, valuation discrepancies, and other relevant metrics.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement in inventory management.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, particularly related to inventory costs and related accounting activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, company policies, and local regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations, particularly related to inventory and SAP transactions.
- Maintain documentation for internal controls and ensure the accuracy of financial records and transactions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting and inventory management systems.
- Recommend enhancements to SAP and accounting workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline inventory-related processes, reducing costs and improving accuracy.
