Job Overview – Director of Accounting (Hybrid):
Step into a leadership role with our client as a Director of Accounting in Houston, TX. In this hybrid position, you will oversee corporate accounting functions, financial reporting, and audit processes while driving strategic improvements to enhance financial transparency and decision-making. Your expertise will ensure regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and the continuous development of a high-performing accounting team.
Compensation: $170,000 - $190,000/year bonus
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Director of Accounting:
- Financial Reporting: Oversee accurate and timely financial statements while ensuring GAAP and regulatory compliance.
- Accounting Operations: Manage general ledger, payroll, benefits, leases, and monthly close processes, optimizing efficiency.
- Audit & Risk Management: Lead internal and external audits, addressing compliance updates and technical accounting matters.
- Strategic Financial Support: Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to analyze performance and drive process improvements.
- M&A Integration: Oversee accounting system integration for acquisitions, ensuring compliance with business combinations.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team, supporting hiring, training, and professional growth.
Qualifications for the Director of Accounting:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in corporate accounting, controllership, or public accounting, with a background in private equity-backed companies.
- Licensure: CPA required.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, large ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), and financial reporting tools with expertise in GAAP and technical accounting standards.
- Leadership & Strategy: Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive financial strategy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Attributes: Analytical mindset, strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving approach, and the ability to balance operational oversight with strategic leadership.
