Join our trusted client as the Head of Investment Valuation in Chicago, IL. This hybrid leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee firm-wide valuation processes, manage methodologies across private equity, real estate, and alternative investments, and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards. You will lead a valuation team, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive process improvements to enhance accuracy and transparency.
Compensation: $175,000 – $200,000/year bonus
Location: Chicago, IL
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Head of Investment Valuation:
- Firm-Wide Valuation Oversight: Lead valuations across private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and illiquid credit.
- Securities Valuation & Risk Management: Oversee quarterly valuations for equity, debt, mezzanine financing, and warrants.
- Interval Fund Valuation: Manage daily fair value assessments for illiquid investments in private equity and infrastructure.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with accounting teams, fund administrators, and valuation firms to ensure accurate NAV updates.
- Leadership & Team Development: Mentor valuation professionals and promote continuous improvement.
- Process & Compliance: Optimize valuation methodologies, enhance reporting technology, and ensure adherence to US GAAP and industry standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting required (MBA or MS strongly preferred).
- Experience: 12 years of investment valuation experience within an independent valuation firm, accounting firm valuation group, or alternative investment firm.
- Certifications: CFA, CPA, or CAIA preferred.
- Alternative Investment Expertise: Strong understanding of private equity, structured investments, and valuation methodologies.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of US GAAP valuation principles, financial modeling, and accounting research.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, project management, and analytical skills, with expertise in valuation processes, strategic decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.
