Job Overview – Senior Investment Accountant (Hybrid):
Take on a key role with our insurance client as a Senior Investment Accountant in Philadelphia, PA. This hybrid position is instrumental in managing investment accounting functions, financial reporting, and analytical support for portfolio managers. You will ensure accuracy in investment-related reporting, optimize financial workflows, and lead department initiatives while working closely with outsourced investment accounting providers and internal stakeholders.
Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000/year bonus
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Senior Investment Accountant:
- Investment Accounting: Manage general ledger entries, reconciliations, and reporting, ensuring GAAP and statutory compliance.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct investment income analysis, identify performance drivers, and resolve policy inconsistencies.
- Process Optimization: Enhance monthly close processes using automation to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Compliance & Audits: Support auditors with financial disclosures, tie-out schedules, and statutory reporting.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with portfolio managers and finance teams to improve investment data accuracy.
- Project Leadership: Lead strategic initiatives, monitor progress, and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications for the Senior Investment Accountant:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering required (CPA preferred).
- Experience: 4 years in investment accounting or financial reporting, with public accounting experience preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of GAAP, statutory insurance investment accounting, fixed income instruments, and time value of money concepts (discounting, compounding, IRR).
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, database functions), PowerPoint, and financial systems (Oracle, Sovos, CW preferred).
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and clear communication of complex financial concepts, with proven leadership in mentoring and process improvements.
- Travel Requirement: Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
