What are the responsibilities and job description for the Connected Learning Ecosystem Coordinator position at Atlantic Staffing LLC?
Title: Regional Connected Learning Ecosystem Coordinator
Overview:
The Maine State Library seeks a 12 month half-time Regional Connected Learning Ecosystem Coordinator to support a local network of teachers, librarians, and informal educators working to increase climate change focused learning opportunities for youth. This position is a pilot position funded through a NASA grant to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute with partners around the Northeast including the Maine State Library. The position is funded January through December 2025 with the possibility to extend as funding allows. This position will report to Maine State Library and will have a strong connection to staff within the Gulf of Maine Research Institute’s education department as well as other project partner organizations across the Northeast.
Connected Learning Ecosystems, or CLEs, are networks of teachers, librarians, and informal educators who are working together in peer communities under the umbrella name of Learning Ecosystems Northeast (LENE). The Regional Connected Learning Ecosystem Coordinator will support one of five existing CLEs in Maine based on proximity to the Coordinator’s home location. Current CLEs are generally centered around the following towns: Caribou, Whiting, Belfast, Rumford, and Scarborough. As a pilot position, the work of the Coordinator will also inform and refine the role as preparation for expanding to additional CLE regions in the future. The Coordinator will play a central role in maintaining continuity of communication, support, and local cross-context recruitment and retention of the CLE they support. As a project partner, the Maine State Library works to connect the vision and goals of LENE and local CLE’s to library programs and services and provides input to the project team on ways libraries support youth to ensure libraries are integrated into the LENE network effectively. To assist with this, in addition to direct support of an existing CLE, the Coordinator will focus on expanding CLE participation among libraries across the LENE network.
The position can be performed entirely remotely or from the appropriate regional office of one of the LENE partner organizations. The position will require significant travel across their CLE region. The successful candidate will have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail and a strong orientation to meeting the diverse needs of a broad array of constituents. They will be an enthusiastic and consistent communicator through all channels, written and verbal as well as with in-person and virtual groups. They will be inclined to lead with listening and operate collaboratively, prioritizing community perspectives. While many kinds of work experience are appropriate preparation for being successful in the role, an orientation toward community organizing and experience with the responsibilities listed is ideal.
