Detail Oriented, fast typists, works well with others, enthusiastic, bilingual (English and Spanish), 2 years of experience as a SEVIS DSO and as an International Student Advisor working with foreign students in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Issue of I-20s and maintains the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) records. Stays updated with SEVIS/USCIS Polices and procedures relevant to international student’s records and I-20 statuses.
- Monitors student’s F-1 data accuracy, student immigration statuses, and maintains appropriate student’s records on the SEVIS files portal.
- Advises students with immigration petitions and applications to include processing for initial I-20, reissue of I-20, F -1 Visas applications, work permits, reinstatement, reduced course load authorizations, change of status, medical leave, and economic hardship employment authorization, OPT and OPT STEM extensions.
- Coordinates and plans programs that support the needs of F-1 students including the development and implementation of retention strategies and new student orientation programs
- Provides ongoing information meetings regarding academic requirements, OPT and opportunities and cultural issues for F-1 students
- Advises students on Atlantis University CPT standing and policies.
- Ensures F-1 students are compliant with SEVIS and Atlantis University regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Supports F-1 students experiencing cross-cultural, family, personal or economic crises. Helps students to access appropriate community services and resources
- Assists with efforts to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff and faculty campus-wide, to help establish an ‘International Student Welcome’ policy and practice campus-wide
- Develops relationships to ensure communication regarding both the students and the departments academic interests and needs
- Functions as a liaison between students and campus units and departments to expedite resolution of student problems or issues involving F-1 students
- Serves as a liaison between various campus units.
- Performs duties related to the job description, as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.
- Reports all matters pertaining to SEVIS policies and procedures to the University’s Principal Designated School Official.
- Assigned to the Director of International Affairs Department.
