What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Door, Frame, Hardware Installer position at Atlas Companies?
Candidates for the commercial door, frame, hardware installer position will have 2-5 years commercial door, frame, and hardware installation experience. Candidates must possess a current driver’s license and be willing to travel throughout the state of Kentucky, including overtime and overnight stays as required. Effective communication skills and time management are a must. High school diploma or equivalent with related vocational training are preferred but not required.
This position is responsible for traveling to jobsites to install commercial hollow metal doors and frames, flush wood doors, stile and rail wood doors, traffic doors, finish hardware and other commercial construction specialty products. Commercial door, frame, hardware installers will read blueprints, take measurements, calculate required materials, assemble, and install materials, possess a keen eye for detail and commitment to quality workmanship, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 AM - 4 PM with travel, overnight stays, and overtime required as needed; position requires full-time work primarily taking place on active jobsites. PPE is required (high-visibility shirts/vest, safety glasses, gloves and hard hats provided). Exposure to noise and varying weather conditions is to be expected.
Candidates should possess the following qualities:
- Knowledge of commercial door hardware products/manufacturers
- Understanding of codes and standards for commercial doors, frames, hardware
- Willingness to comply with safety guidelines at all times
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Physical strength to lift heavy objects and work on ladders/lifts
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods
- Experience with electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools
- Knowledge of construction methods and installation techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
