Lead Conveyor Belt Technician

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Lead Conveyor Belt Technician to join our team. As a Lead Conveyor Belt Technician, you will be responsible for leading a team of 2-3 Belt Technicians tasked with maintaining, repairing, and installing conveyor belts in various industrial settings. This is a hands-on role that requires technical knowledge and mechanical skills.

Duties:

-Diagnose and troubleshoot belt problems such as mistracking and premature wear

-Lead a crew of 2-3 Belt Technicians while maintaining safety protocols

-Operate heavy equipment such as telehandlers, manlifts, and forklifts

-Proficiency at crane hand signals and safe lifting techniques

-Travel to customer locations and develop a plan for the best way to change larger belts

-Provide mentoring and training of Junior Belt Technicians

-Capable of lifting 50-100 lbs

-Communicate directly with customer and AES management on the status of jobs

-Perform routine maintenance on systems including changing out gearboxes, pulleys, idlers, bearings, and belt scrapers

Experience:
- 2 yrs experience vulcanizing heavy-duty conveyor belts
- 2 yrs experience in mechanical spicing
- 2 yrs experience changing belt conveyor related components such as gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, idlers, and belt scrapers
- 1 yrs experience in pulley lagging (cold bond and weld on)

-Lightweight belt splicing is a plus
- Ability to weld is preferred
- CDL-A is a big plus

Requirements:

-Must be an effective and respectful communicator

-Capable and proficient at management in high pressure situations

-Willing to travel (hotels and per diems covered by AES)

-Willing to work in all weather conditions

-Strong understanding and execution of finger splicing (square and biased) and step splicing

-Able to pass pre-employment and random drug screens

-Must be safety oriented

-High attention to detail

-Valid drivers license and able to obtain DOT physical
