Logistics Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating all inbound and outbound shipping activities to support manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned)

. Work with production and customer service to schedule all orders for delivery and customer pick up.

. Maintains a high level of communication with customers, sales, production, and shipping departments as necessary.

. Monitor sales orders to make sure information is up to date, taking special care with jobsite deliveries to ensure that the proper address and delivery times are correct.

. Understand and use ERP system to monitor current and future shipping schedules.

. Load to maximize product yield on trailers.

. Determine most cost-effective way to ship freight.

. Adjust shipping documents as needed.

. Verify ship to address is correct.

. Schedules in house deliveries and coordinates with external freight and logistics companies.

. Coordinates maintenance and repair of company owned trucks and trailers.

. Inspect all incoming freight bills to verify that they are correct.

. Understand and learn DOT regulations that pertain to shipping.

. Monitors time reporting for drivers.

. Schedules drivers' requests for time-off.

. Verifies correctness of drivers' DOT HOS logs.

. Recognize and adhere to best practices for safety.

. May direct truck drivers and dedicated material handler forklift drivers.

. Does not have the authority to hire or fire.

. Performs any other functions and responsibilities as assigned.

. Must be trained and familiar with general safety.

. Must be trained and familiar with Quality System Awareness.

. Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

. Prior shipping and receiving or logistics experience required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

. Must be fluent in the English language, both written and spoken.

. Must be able to use simple math and use basic handheld measuring tools.

. Must have basic computer skills.

. Must have knowledge of DOT regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

. Light to moderate physical effort required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, and climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, reaching both forward and above head level, and tolerant of temperature changes for the entire shift.

. Must be able to deal with stressful situations in a professional manner both in person and on the phone.

. Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
