What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Atlas Search?
The ideal candidate will oversee all financial aspects of operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role will manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting for a growing consumer services business, working closely with senior leadership to drive sound financial decisions and support operational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific regulations.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting process for various projects, departments, and the overall company. Prepare forecasts and financial analyses to support strategic decision-making and cost control.
Job Costing & Project Financials:
- Manage and analyze job costing for home repair projects, ensuring accurate tracking of labor, materials, overhead, and other project-related expenses. Work with project managers to evaluate profitability and make recommendations for cost savings.
Cash Flow & Accounts Management:
- Monitor cash flow and financial transactions, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and payments. Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes for all home repair projects.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop and implement internal control processes to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Perform regular audits to maintain accuracy and integrity in financial data.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, ensuring professional growth and alignment with company objectives. Foster a culture of collaboration and high performance.
Tax Planning & Reporting:
- Oversee tax compliance, including sales tax, payroll tax, and other relevant filings. Work with external tax advisors to ensure tax efficiency and compliance with all applicable laws.
Financial Strategy & Decision Support:
- Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights and strategic recommendations that support business growth and operational efficiency. Assist in evaluating pricing strategies, cost structures, and profitability analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or CPA preferred)
- 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a preference for experience in the construction or home repair industry
- Solid understanding of job costing, project accounting, and financial management in a service-based business
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (experience with ERP systems is a plus)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record of implementing financial controls and improving financial processes
Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
