Regulatory Reporting Subject Matter Expert (SME) – VP/Director
Role Overview:
- Second-line oversight for regulatory reporting risk management.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance of regulatory reports.
- Partner with senior leadership to strengthen regulatory reporting controls.
- Influence regulatory reporting risk strategy at the highest organizational levels.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Oversight
- Embed regulatory reporting risk management into strategic decision-making.
- Provide independent oversight, challenge methodologies, and ensure compliance.
- Advise on regulatory reporting frameworks, data quality, and control effectiveness.
2. Monitoring, Assessing & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement continuous monitoring programs for regulatory reporting.
- Lead deep-dive risk assessments, control testing, and scenario analyses.
- Oversee thematic analyses to identify weaknesses and track remediation efforts.
3. Regulatory & Industry Best Practices Advisory
- Provide expertise on regulatory requirements (SEC, FRB, OCC, FDIC, etc.).
- Advise on FR Y-series reports, FFIEC Call Reports, CCAR/DFAST, and prudential reporting.
- Monitor industry trends and evolving regulations for best practice alignment.
- Prepare executive-level presentations on regulatory reporting risk.
4. Governance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead governance meetings to review reporting control environment and emerging risks.
- Coordinate with Regulatory Reporting, Finance, Compliance, and Technology teams.
- Work with the NFR team to integrate advanced regulatory control frameworks.
Company Requirements – Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in regulatory reporting within banking, preferably with both 1st and 2nd line roles.
- Certifications: CPA, CFA, FRM, or other relevant banking-specific credentials.
- Regulatory Expertise:
- Deep understanding of banking regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations.
- Experience with Federal Reserve (FR Y-9C, FR Y-14, FR 2052a), FFIEC Call Reports (031/041/051), CCAR/DFAST, Basel III frameworks, and prudential regulatory reporting.
- Technical & Control Program Experience:
- Strong track record in regulatory reporting control programs, including process reviews, control testing, and data quality validation.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting validation frameworks, data lineage, attestation processes, and governance structures.
- Experience with regulatory reporting systems such as AxiomSL, Reg-Reporter, or other industry platforms.
- Risk & Compliance:
- Ability to challenge first-line inputs and methodologies with informed feedback.
- Experience in compliance or audit related to regulatory reporting is a plus.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Ability to assess complex regulatory reporting processes and implement strategic solutions.
- Strong project management skills with adaptability to regulatory changes.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to translate complex regulatory requirements for various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and data visualization tools.
- Industry-Specific Knowledge:
- Familiarity with Corporate & Investment Banking and Capital Markets regulatory reporting requirements.
Salary : $170,000 - $220,000
