Atmosphere Academy creates an "atmosphere" for learning in which students and teachers realize their potential as mindful leaders through enriching experiential learning and engaging coursework across all content areas. Atmosphere’s middle school offers students a rigorous academic curriculum, targeted instruction and engagement, advisory and restorative justice lessons, and engaging clubs and electives. Human Resources (HR) Associate
The HR Associate supports the HR Leader in supervising and facilitating staff hiring, HR investigations and payroll, in addition to other responsibilities. The HR Associate leads employee on-boarding, employee off-boarding, employee records, benefit administration, and PTO management, among other tasks. The HR Leader reports to and consults with the HR Leader on all matters.
Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Atmosphere Academy offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes the following:

Qualifications
- Three years relevant professional work experience preferred, ideally in a charter school or other K-12 education organization
- Experience with relevant payroll and HR management software
- Experience onboarding new staff members
- Demonstrated familiarity with FMLA, Short Term Disability and Paid Family Leave
- Experience managing HR investigations
- Demonstrated ability to manage extremely sensitive information
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Consistent record-keeping of sensitive materials
- Strong interpersonal skills and track record of collaborating with diverse stakeholders
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
- Relentless determination to do whatever it takes to help Atmosphere staff members and scholars succeed

Responsibilities
Staff Development Responsibilities
- Coordinate human resource activities, including payroll and benefits, and maintain employment records
- Manage the on-boarding and off-boarding of staff by implementing procedures in coordination with the HR Leader
- Help develop, improve, refine, and finalize the Employee Handbook and other HR documents
- Distribute and disseminate the Employee Handbook to all employees upon hiring or as needed throughout the year
- Facilitate various HR trainings, such as new staff orientation, sexual harassment training, etc.
Payroll Responsibilities
- Onboard employees into the payroll system
- Enter or run payroll in coordination with the HR Leader
- Make adjustments to payroll as necessary (ie. promotions, demotions, unpaid leave)
- Act as the primary point of contact for any employees who may have questions about payroll
Benefits Responsibilities
- Learn and become well-versed in all benefit offerings, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, AD&D, retirement benefits, transit and parking benefits and tuition reimbursement benefits
- Lead benefit education sessions for new employees, including new staff orientation and seasonal open enrollment presentations (in conjunction with insurance representatives)
- Register and enroll staff members in benefit platforms and ensure they know how to access and navigate said platforms
- Troubleshoot any and all benefit issues by utilizing the many resources made available to you
- Disenroll former staff from benefits programs once they leave Atmosphere
- Work with Atmosphere’s lawyers to administer paid and unpaid leave on a case-by-case basis
- Explain different leave policies to employees when they request leave
- Provide paperwork to employees requesting leave and process paperwork once received
HR Investigations Responsibilities
- Support HR-related investigations, which encompass a wide variety of situations and topics
- Maintain confidentiality and trust when supporting HR-related investigations
- Carry out some steps of the HR investigation process
- Work with Atmosphere’s lawyers, HR Leader, and Officers to determine the proper course of action once an investigation is complete
- Support confidential conversations with staff members as needed
- Work with the Leadership Team, Operations Team, and school security to ensure all buildings are secure and safe
Records Responsibilities
- Collect the proper records from new employees (ie. work authorization documents)
- Maintain accurate records and record-keeping trackers
- Maintain confidential folders for certain extreme situations
- During an audit, provide the proper documentation as requested and ensure all necessary documentation is on file
- Assist in cleaning up the Google Drive and keeping it organized
- Digitize and shred prior records
Staff Hiring Responsibilities
- Help create universal screeners, questions, and workflow documents related to hiring
- Help to review resumes and make phone calls to set up initial interviews when needed
- Create partnerships with colleges, universities and other outside organizations that can serve as a feeder pool for candidates
- Manage the relationship with job vendors (really, ZipRecruiter, etc.)
- Explore the opportunity to work with recruiting firms
- Identify, attend and represent Atmosphere at virtual and in-person job fairs alongside other key staff members
Other
- Work at least 5 days during the summer break to address key summer deliverables, which are earned as summer days to use later in the year.
- Any and all other responsibilities as delegated and assigned by the Board of Trustees and the Officers.
