Title Prep Technician
Department(s) Prep & Paint
Reports to Unfinished Differential Supervisor
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 1 hour lunch. No weekends!
Job Summary/Objective of Job
The Prep Technician is responsible for cleaning and removing any foreign debris from all components of both Transmission and Differentials models. This position requires experience working basic hand tools and grinders to prepare units for rebuild.
Summary of essential job functions:
- Removal any gaskets, rust scale or foreign debris from cases
- Able to use impact gun to remove caps from the carrier
- Inspects cases for any defects
- Prep all gasket surfaces with a wire wheel
- Able to use a cordless drill to clean out all threaded holes
- Able to use an air gun to remove all components
- Needs to be able to keep track of time spent on units and record times on work orders
- Able to cross-train co-workers/new employees on process and procedures
- Able to communicate with the Transmission and Differential Final Inspector on task completion/ quality issues
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 1-2 years working with Transmission and Differentials
- Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coordinate/prioritize/organize jobs
- Ability to remain goal-focused in a fast-paced work environment
- Knowledgeable of safe work practices required in the department
