Position Summary
The Senior Market Access Manager will be responsible for leading strategic initiatives to help expand access to AtriCure therapies. This position influences the company's global health economics, reimbursement, and market access strategy by translating and synthesizing clinical evidence, government policy, and reimbursement information, and developing solutions and initiatives that can help drive market access.
With a strong background in clinical trial management and reimbursement, this role collaborates closely with our Clinical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, Marketing, and Sales teams to develop and deliver the reimbursement strategy and clinical messaging to audiences across all levels in integrated health organizations, commercial payers and government payers. Skilled in interpreting, synthesizing and communicating technical and evidence-based information, this role will collaborate with internal team members and clinical experts to craft messages, presentations and papers that illustrate economic impacts to various audiences we partner with. This role also leads payor advocacy strategies, evidence planning and strategy, and constructs health economic tools. This role requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, reimbursement processes, health economics, and regulatory requirements.
This self-driven role initiates, leads and executes strategic market access initiatives, and requires the ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with leadership. The role applies mastery-level understanding clinical and reimbursement subject matter, and can synthesize, identify and propose ideas that present opportunities for broader market access. In addition. This role leverages strong business acumen to understand and influence solutions based on organizational readiness.

Market Access Development and Expansion
- Pursue opportunities to expand market access through GPOs, integrated health plans, and Technology Assessment Organizations/Committees
- Monitor, nurture relationships and exhibit a comprehensive understanding of national, regional and local reimbursement coverage issues through payor research, face-to-face meetings, KOL interviews and attendance at public meetings
- Work with key professional societies facilitate coding, coverage, and payment strategies for AtriCure products and therapies
- Monitor, research and analyze customer business trends, competitive updates, industry issues and opportunities and share market feedback with internal leadership and cross-functional teams
- Lead, develop and implement billing and coding strategies for clinical trial sites
- Create coverage analysis for IDE clinical trials to determine appropriate billing designations
- Provide guidance on Medicare Clinical Trial Policy compliance
- Support clinical sites with proper coding and billing procedures for study-related services
- Lead, develop and implement billing grids and coverage analysis documents for new clinical trials
- Collaborate with CROs and study teams to ensure alignment on billing requirements
- Monitor and analyze claim denials related to clinical trial billing
- Provide training to research sites on proper billing compliance procedures
- Stay current with CMS clinical trial billing requirements and industry best practices
- Drive initiatives from conception to completion with minimal oversight
- Leads by influence to engage cross-functional partners and team members involved in projects, and ensure strong execution and results
- Develop, maintain, and communicate project timelines, documentation, and status reports across various functions and levels in the organization
- Proactively identify and communicate potential challenges or resource needs
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures
- Design and develop professional presentations, training materials, and analytical tools using Microsoft Office Suite
- Build and maintain strong relationships across departments, at various levels in the organization
- Facilitate effective communication and ensure alignment between team members and stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cross-departmental efficiency

- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare management, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MPH) preferred
- Minimum of 7 years proven experience in market access strategy within the medical device industry, or minimum 5 years proven experience in market access strategy within the medical device industry with advanced degree.
- Comfortable initiating and driving multiple initiatives at a rapid pace, making thoughtful recommendations with available data, and delivering solutions with precision and excellence
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with experience creating professional business materials
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present to various audiences
- In-depth and broad knowledge of healthcare systems, reimbursement processes, and regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Certified Professional Coder or equivalent (AAPC, AHIMA)
- Experience in working closely with global sales and marketing commercial teams, including ability to influence cross-functionally
- Minimum of 3 years experience in clinical trial billing and reimbursement
- Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare Clinical Trial Policy and IDE study billing requirements
- Experience creating coverage analyses and billing grids for clinical trials
- Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
