Our client is a leader in civil and utility construction services in the Tampa Bay area. They are looking to add a Fleet Dispatcher to their team.

Salary / Hourly Rate :

65k DOE

Position Overview :

The Fleet Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, documenting, and managing all heavy haul transportation activities for the entire company. The Fleet Dispatcher must be a subject matter expert in Florida DOT regulations and responsible for ensuring our drivers and third-party vendors are operating in a safe and compliant manner. This is a heavy volume and fast-paced role, managing heavy off-road construction equipment moves, within a high-performance equipment management organization.

Responsibilities of the Fleet Dispatcher :

  • Demonstrate leadership in the day-to-day management of the Logistics / Heavy Haul team under their direction.
  • Coach, mentor, and communicate job expectations to Logistics team members.
  • Maintain technical and product knowledge of all regulations & requirements within the area of responsibility.
  • Effectively utilize a Centralized computer system for documenting moves, scheduling drivers, and assigning third-party carriers.
  • Accountable for system data quality related to Service operations.
  • Approve weekly timesheets and allocate driver labor hours accordingly.
  • Respond and follow up with employee issues and / or concerns.
  • Review and approve all applicable repair estimates.
  • Completing employee annual reviews.
  • Responsible for generating reports, analyzing the data, and driving corrective actions.
  • Ensure that appropriate communications take place throughout the logistics team by leading regular weekly team meetings, encouraging an open-door policy, and proactively seeking feedback from team members.
  • Foster an engaged work environment within the company, encouraging accountability, open communication, teamwork, and a commitment to serving the customer.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in written or verbal form.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to effectively execute any / all other duties as assigned by management professionally and efficiently.

Qualifications for the Fleet Dispatcher :

  • 3 - 5 years dispatching heavy haul for off-road construction equipment transport.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Ability to generate reports, analyze data, and take the necessary course of action.
  • Effective in prioritizing, scheduling, and expediting repairs of a heavy equipment fleet.
  • Extensive experience managing a company’s DOT compliance program.
  • People-oriented with the ability to build long-term business relationships.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, and organizational skills are required.
  • Education Requirements :

  • High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
