Position Overview :
The Payroll Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and developing a high-performing payroll operations team, ensuring efficient and effective payroll processes. This role involves managing staff, designing and controlling payroll operations processes, handling vendor relationships, and ensuring that operational metrics are tracked and analyzed. The ideal candidate will bring strong management and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and lead a fast-paced, results-driven team.
Responsibilities of the Payroll Operations Manager :
- Manage and develop a team of Payroll Operations staff, ensuring performance excellence.
- Interview, hire, onboard, train, guide, supervise, and develop team members.
- Design and control payroll operations processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Delegate tasks and conduct regular check-ins to monitor project and process progression.
- Manage departmental vendors, including vendor selection, monitoring, and invoice approval.
- Analyze operational metrics, identify root causes, and recommend improvements to leadership.
- Maintain spreadsheets with analytical data regarding operational performance.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and standardization.
- Address escalations and operational challenges proactively.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement process and system changes.
- Modify and prepare standardized processes, training resources, and compliance documentation.
- Interface with internal and external partners at all levels.
- Conduct one-on-ones and check-ins with direct reports, providing coaching, goal-setting, and mentorship.
- Create work schedules and make decisions related to staffing and workload.
- Maintain a positive, team-oriented culture and project a professional demeanor.
- Support other duties as assigned.
