Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Hospital Switchboard Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for managing incoming calls, directing communications, and ensuring critical alerts are handled efficiently. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent service to patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and direct incoming hospital phone calls professionally and efficiently.
- Transfer calls to appropriate departments and personnel.
- Monitor the fire panel system and use the radio to notify Security of any trouble alarms.
- Contact and relay information to 911 in emergency situations when a code is called.
- Make overhead PA announcements for hospital codes when requested.
- Assist with fleet key check-outs and track returns.
- Help staff with meal ticket purchases and other clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a switchboard or customer service role preferred.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during emergency situations.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with phone systems.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $17.97 - $21.22 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
