We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team! As a Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company's procurement activities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services while maintaining high standards of quality and vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills and a strong understanding of supply chain management.
The purchasing manager is accountable for:
- Plan, develop, and execute a strategic supply chain strategy
- Develop and maintain supplier/vendor relationships
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on their quality, reliability, pricing, and delivery capabilities
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contractual agreements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the operations, and production teams, to understand their procurement needs and achieve on-time fulfillment for all sales orders
- Analyze and perform cost analysis and set benchmarks on procurement
- Analyze current inventory and procedures; suggest improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company
- Identify and improve scrap, slow moving, and obsolete material trends
- Monitoring incoming orders and creating corresponding sales orders
- Establish procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory
- Ensure ingredients and packaging components are ordered appropriately based on lead times, inventory levels and production needs.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance, including conducting regular supplier evaluations and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
- Continuously assess and improve procurement processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee the procurement budget and ensure adherence to financial guidelines and cost control measures.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including supplier contracts, purchase orders, and inventory levels.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to procurement and supply chain management
- Ensure the MRP system is accurate and up-to-date.
- Work with Accounts Payable to reconcile any invoicing issues

- Inventory turns - Finished good and raw
- Production adherence to plan
- Manage weekly inventory value and days on hand comparison to goal
A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- 5 experience in sourcing and procurement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- 5 years of experience with MRP software systems
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar procurement role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and techniques, including strategic sourcing and supplier management.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in using procurement software and other relevant tools to streamline processes and track purchasing activities.
- Solid understanding of inventory management, forecasting, and demand planning.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing procurement activities.
