JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communication or related field required.
(2) Experience working in industry preferred
(3) Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies governing education in Alabama. Knowledge of curriculum and instructional programs and best practices for appropriate level. Willingness to learn budgetary and supervisory responsibilities. Ability to work with people in an effective manner. Knowledge of scheduling and supervision. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize. Ability to use data in the decision-making process. Ability to use a computer. Ability to work with diverse populations.
REPORTS TO:
Career Tech Director
JOB GOAL
To assist the Career Tech Director with administrative and operational functions of a comprehensive career tech program for students and to carry out the mission and goals of the school and the system.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Direct the development, implementation and evaluation the Career and Technical instructional program for all students.
§ Represent the Career Coach Program in the local high school and conduct public relations efforts to promote the CTE programs.
§ Provide career development guidance for high school students with emphasis on technical programs.
§ Plan and implement student recruitment activities for technical programs.
§ Assist prospective students with career exploration activities and career assessments.
§ Assist prospective students with admissions, financial aid, and registration procedures for college admission.
§ Provide guidance to students regarding career choices.
§ Conduct high school classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities.
§ Provide prospective students with information regarding the current job market and trends in career choices.
§ Schedule and attend college campus tours and industry tours with high school students.
§ Coordinate job shadowing opportunities for students.
§ Maintain ongoing database of students and classrooms where services are offered.
§ Utilize data effectively in decision-making.
§ Promote staff development activities with focus on the needs of the staff,
§ Be actively involved in programs for professional growth and development.
§ Attend system conferences, inservices, and workshops to keep current in educational practices.
§ Model and maintain high standards of professional conduct.
§ Set high standards and expectations for self, others, and school.
§ Adjust strategies to accommodate unexpected situations.
§ Confer with students, parents, and teachers to resolve problems which inhibit learning.
§ Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of individuals and groups.
§ Support and attend school and community functions.
§ Assist in the induction program for beginning teachers.
§ Assist in the development of positive school/community relations.
§ Cooperate and coordinate with all administrators in the school.
§ Utilize central staff for problem resolution when appropriate.
§ Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
Position is based on available funding from Alabama State Department of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
