What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist Teacher RSP position at Auburn Union School District?
SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (RESOURCE/SPECIAL DAY CLASS/LANGUAGE INTENSIVE)
The RSP, SDC, or Language Intensive teacher works under the immediate supervision and direction of the site principal, with the support of the Director of Special Education and Student Services. The teacher will plan, implement, and evaluate the instructional activities for individual students. Communication and coordination with all participants is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Shall become familiar with policies and procedures that relate to their school duties. Assigned activities shall be conducted to adhere to the California Education Code, Title V, and carry out Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.
- Shall develop knowledge and skills essential to effectively teach students in the grade assigned; provide a broad repertoire of teaching strategies and methodologies to deliver instruction for the purpose of meeting the needs of all students.
- Shall carry out duties as listed in the Job Description of a K-8 teacher as it corresponds with their duties as a special education teacher.
- Shall plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the Individual Education Plan of each assigned student.
- Shall participate in all appropriate planning meetings.
- Shall provide a learning environment that allows for individual differences and respect for the dignity and worth of each student.
- Shall coordinate the mainstreaming process.
- Shall work with the site principal and Special Education Director, to coordinate and assign tasks and responsibilities of the special education instructional aides.
- Shall work cooperatively with the entire staff to promote effective student learning experiences.
- Shall maintain functional learning environments.
- Shall perform educational assessments.
- Shall prepare reports required by the IEP, district, county, and state.
- Shall perform other related duties as required.
Supervision By: Is under the direction and supervision of the site Principal. with support
of the Director of Special Education and Student Services.
Employment Standards:
Bachelor’s Degree with a valid California Teaching Credential authorizing service in the assigned area.
RSP/Language Intensive- Education Specialist Instruction (Mild/Moderate) or Learning Handicapped with Resource Specialist
SDC-Education Specialist Instruction with Moderate to Severe Disabilities
SDAIE, CLAD, or CTEL authorization for English Learners is required.
