Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director will be responsible for overseeing academic advisors and professional advising staff and collaborating with campus partners to provide vision and leadership to the university advising community, which includes all aspects of advising from first-time enrollment to degree attainment.

- Implement student-centered advising campus-wide in accordance with AUM’s strategic plan.
- Supervise the Office of Central Advising, including an Associate Director, advisors, and an administrative professional.
- Oversee training and onboarding for all academic advisors, some housed in other colleges.
- Oversee advising help (advisinghelp@aum.edu) and participate in advising troubleshooting as needed.
- Serve as primary advisor for controlled re-entry students for the first semester after readmission.
- Oversee administration of advising software such as CRM Advise.
- Develop and maintain departmental budgets.
- Collaborate with campus partners (e.g., Admissions Office, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Warhawk Academic Success Center) to improve student success.
- Gather, analyze, and distribute data to create awareness of trends and student needs and share with appropriate campus partners.
- Set goals, gather data, and report annually on the effectiveness of advising.
- Collaborate in initiatives related to the improvement of retention, persistence, and graduation of all students.
- Assist departments with course projections, data analysis related to their courses and majors, and graduation processing as requested.
- Facilitate orientation processes related to academic advising.
- Support recruiting efforts involving academic advisors, including Transfer Preview Day, A Day in the Life of a Warhawk, and off-campus recruiting events.
- Oversee coordination of all advising events, such as Advising Fair, Financial Freakout, Minor Madness, Parallel Planning, and Pre-Nursing Orientation
- Provide oversight for all advising related committees and programs, including Academic Advisor Forum, Academic Advising Council, Peer Advising Program, Exploratory Advising Program, Pre-Professional Support Team, and advisor professional development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively execute multiple initiatives, programs, and events, and meet established deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish and develop productive and collegial relationships, collaboration, and communication with on-campus partners.
- Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive assessment plan for AUM advising to include analysis and interpretation of student retention and graduation data.
- Ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate information and make verbal or written presentations based on this information.
- Ability to apply advising, student development, and enrollment management theories, and appropriate tools to achieve advising goals.
- Demonstrated ability to set and implement policy, to review and act upon the most difficult individual and organizational problems, and to administer programs.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Master’s college degree in Education, Business, Psychology, Counseling, or related field
- At least five years of experience in academic advising or counseling or closely related area
