Job Description Summary | Auburn University is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual for a tenure track Assistant Professor position with a focus on foodservice management, financial management, food safety, sustainability in food systems, and/or leadership within foodservice operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing a Certified Dietary Manager's (CDM) program and contribute to the academic community through teaching, research, and service. Key Responsibilities:
SETTING: The Department of Nutritional Sciences employs 11 faculty members and is affiliated with the College of Human Sciences. The department offers a baccalaureate degree with program options in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, and Wellness, and a master's, and doctoral degree programs in Nutrition. Opportunities to engage in collaborative research include other departments in The College of Human Sciences, Hunger Solutions Institute, The College of Agriculture, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Auburn University Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Research Program, East Alabama Health, and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). Minimum Qualifications |
Education: Terminal degree in a discipline that supports the primary function of the position in addition to successful completion of 18 or more graduate credit hours of coursework in Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences by the time employment begins. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential (required for directing the CDM program). Experience: Demonstrated experience in advising, teaching and curriculum development. Track record of research and scholarly publications appropriate to the assistant professor level. Experience in managing or developing academic programs is desired. Experience in securing external funding is an asset. Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and external partners. Proficiency in using technology for teaching and research. |
