Auburn University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Department of Nutritional Sciences with a focus on applied and/or translational research related to basic human nutrition, applied human nutrition and/or food systems. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain collaborative relationships within the department and college and with other campus partners such as Extension, Hunger Solutions Institute, Food Safety, and the College of Agriculture. Key Responsibilities:
SETTING: The Department of Nutritional Sciences employs 11 faculty members and is affiliated with the College of Human Sciences. The department offers a baccalaureate degree with program options in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, and Wellness, and a master's, and doctoral degree programs in Nutrition. Opportunities to engage in collaborative research include other departments in The College of Human Sciences, Hunger Solutions Institute, The College of Agriculture, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Auburn University Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Research Program, East Alabama Health, and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). Minimum Qualifications |
Education: Terminal degree in a discipline that supports the primary function of the position in addition to successful completion of 18 or more graduate credit hours of coursework in Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences by the time employment begins. Experience: Demonstrated experience in applied and/or translational research. Track record of research and scholarly publications commensurate with the level of appointment. Experience in securing external funding is commensurate with the level of appointment. Experience in teaching in one of the areas listed above and curriculum development is an asset.
Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and external partners. Ability to advise and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students. Proficiency in using technology for teaching and research. |
