The Shearer Automotive Family of Dealerships is seeking a Human Resources Manager. The person who fills this role will oversee the Human Resources and Payroll functions of the company, including recruiting, weekly payroll processing, benefits, employee relations, maintaining written policies, procedures and processes, and continuing compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Payroll Administrator Responsibilities
- Responsible for the full scope of accurate and timely, beginning to end, weekly payroll processing for all businesses of the company.
- Processes and enters all new hires into Paycor, entering personnel changes, personnel transactions, completing employment verification's; maintaining employee files, medical files, I9 files and motor vehicle checks.
- Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and periodic filing requirements.
- Prepare and review payroll account reconciliations, bill reconciliation and other benefits-related administrative duties.
- Oversee the maintenance of current employee data systems, ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Maintains payroll and related records recording the accumulation and use of vacations, holidays, sick days, and miscellaneous leaves of absence.
- Responsible for all department filing, records maintenance and general overall department organization.
- Assists CFO with staffing reports, maintains general ledger with regard to payroll postings and special projects as needed.
HR Administrator Responsibilities
- Maintain Human Resources administrative procedures for payroll and benefits, new hires, terminations, COBRA, workers’ compensation, and personnel files.
- Develop appropriate policies and programs in areas of employee relations, EEO, harassment prevention, dispute resolution, disciplinary action, and legal compliance.
- Maintain the Employee Handbook and advice, interpret, and train staff on policies as appropriate.
- Consult with managers on best practices in areas of recruitment, selection, and on-boarding.
- Act as an advisor and mediator on employee relations issues including performance management, discipline, and terminations.
- Serve as an advisor in the area of payroll and FLSA compliance.
- Place recruitment advertisements and provide assistance in hiring processes.
- Process payment of invoices for medical, dental, life, and related benefits.
- Manage medical and other leaves of absence in compliance with FMLA and other applicable laws.
- File and maintain workers compensation claims and manage leaves of absence.
- Oversee annual open enrollment process for benefits.
- Responsible for post-employment hearings such as unemployment or EEO complaints.
- Establish credibility throughout the Company, with management and employees in order to be an effective listener and problem solver of employee and management issues.
Education and Experience:
- College degree with 2 to 4 years’ Payroll and HR experience.
- Experience with Paycor database or similar HRIS/Payroll system and payroll practices, solid computer skills, including Excel, MS Office.
- Must maintain highly confidential information.
- Must be a self-starter with strong attention to detail, excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
- Proven ability to act independently, exercise judgment and influence people to take appropriate actions. Ability to prioritize and adapt to change.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
