Position Overview
Audubon Kids Zone (AKZ) seeks a dynamic and strategic Director of Programs to oversee all programmatic operations, ensuring alignment with AKZ’s mission to connect schools, families, and communities to empower kids to achieve lifelong success. The Director of Programs will provide leadership for program staff, manage program budgets, track key performance metrics, and drive continuous program improvement to maximize impact.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Strategy:
- Provide strategic oversight for all AKZ programs, including AKZ’s early learning program (Strong Starts), afterschool and summer enrichment, our teen program, and our Family Advocates.
- Ensure programs align with AKZ’s mission, funding requirements, and best practices in education and youth development.
- Lead program development and innovation, identifying opportunities for growth and enhancement.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that prioritizes equity, excellence, and community-driven solutions.
Staff Supervision & Development:
- Supervise all program staff, including program staff, volunteers, and Family Advocates.
- Establish performance goals and provide ongoing coaching, support, and professional development.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Program Evaluation & Data Management:
- Develop and oversee metrics and evaluation systems to measure program effectiveness and impact.
- Use data-driven decision-making to adjust and improve programs.
- Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and organizational benchmarks.
Financial & Budget Management:
- Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Monitor spending, ensure fiscal responsibility, and align resource allocation with program goals.
- Support grant applications and reporting by providing programmatic data and impact narratives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred in education, nonprofit management, social work, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in program leadership, youth development, or nonprofit management.
- Experience with staff supervision, program evaluation, and budget management.
- Experience using data and outcome measurements to drive program improvement.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Passion for equity, education, and community empowerment.

The position may require the employee to use an Audubon Kids Zone vehicle to occasionally transport students.
