CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS : Under routine supervision, performs entry-level para-professional
work conducting games, special events, arts and crafts and other group activities at a County recreation area.

Discusses and makes inquiry into the interests, needs, and desires of individuals in all age groups to
determine how the County recreation program can best meet their needs. Makes verbal and / or written
reports on information gathered.
Assists in planning activities for neighborhood and community groups and organizations.
Assists in the interpretation and oral presentation of the recreation program.
Assists in group activities, including dancing, nature activity, arts and crafts, camping and other informal
group activities, as directed.
Issues and oversees the use of equipment and materials and assists in the care and maintenance of
equipment.
May aid in the general office routine by preparing reports and plans, answering the telephone, and
dispensing general information to the public.
Receives fees and issues receipts. Completes financial paperwork and makes bank deposits.
Assists in the maintenance of the general appearance and cleanliness of facilities.
May act as a facility attendant.
Performs related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Some experience, paid or volunteer, in leisure activities or working
with children.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : May be required to obtain or possess prior to employment, a valid Florida
Driver s license and maintain said license during term of employment.
The applicant will be disqualified from further consideration for the position if a Level I background
criminal background investigation, performed in accordance with Brevard County Administrative Order 5
AO-5), discloses the applicant has disqualifying convictions (AO-5).
In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, full-time
permanent employees will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES : (Note : The knowledge, skills and abilities identified in this

Some knowledge of recreational activities, sports, and games and their governing rules and regulations.
Some knowledge of recreation equipment use and maintenance.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : This is light physical work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : Work is both indoors and outdoors with exposure to dust, noise and weather
