Environmental Inspector I
The County of Augusta is accepting applications for the position of Environmental Inspector I within the Department of Community Development.
A partial listing of the duties and responsibilities of the position are as follows: issues land disturbance permits; tracks development county-wide; attends pre-construction meetings; reviews erosion and stormwater management plans, pollution prevention plans, and stormwater pollution prevention plans; inspects commercial/industrial, subdivision, and single-family home construction sites; maintains DEQ’s database of permits and inspections; enforces the County and States environmental ordinance; performs all other related tasks as required.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, supplemented by college level coursework in engineering and/or environmental science. Experience in construction, engineering, or an environmental field is preferred but not required. DEQ Dual Combined Administrator certification will be required within 1 year of employment.
The County offers an excellent fringe benefits package including retirement, group life and health insurance, and PTO leave program. Hiring range is $44,060 - $46,263 depending on qualifications.
