Lead Kennel Attendant
The County of Augusta is accepting applications for the position of Lead Kennel Attendant for the Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center located in Lyndhurst, Virginia. This is a public shelter owned by Augusta County and the Cities of Staunton and Waynesboro.
This position’s responsibilities include, but not limited to upholding the mission of the shelter; providing appropriate care to animals; ensures compliance with state and local regulations; ensures professionalism of staff including continuity between shelter staff, animal control officers, volunteers, advocacy groups, rescues and the public; follows approved shelter policies and procedures; ensures the facility is clean, safe and well organized and promotes education and outreach. Works to find shelter animals homes by reviewing applications, contacting rescue organizations, and providing adoption counseling. Work performed under the supervision of the Operations Manager.
The preferred candidate will have graduated from high school with experience in care for animals in a shelter environment. Completion of a certified shelter operations course is preferred but not required.
The hiring range is $39,917 - $41,913 depending on qualifications. The County offers an excellent benefit package.
