The Pharmacy Technician Trainee performs, under pharmacist supervision, a variety of technical duties related to the procurement, storage, preparation and dispensing of drugs according to standard procedures. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician Trainees also perform multiple tasks related to collecting, reconciling, and entering the home medication history into the patient’s electronic health record prior to admission.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure/ Certification
Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee
Experience
Experience with use of office software computer applications and keyboarding preferred
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effectively reads, writes, speaks, and understands English; possesses strong telephone, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions; able to learn technical tasks including the use of automation
- Able to apply math skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast paced environment while staying organized and demonstrating attention to detail.
