What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Coordinator position at Augusta-Richmond County?
Performs highly responsible and complex professional work in the administration, coordination, oversight of grants fiscal management. Assists in monitoring citywide grant projects for City, Federal, and State Grants to include applications, budgeting and grant compliance. Reports to the Grant Compliance Manager or other designated person and works with co-workers, department directors, auditors, vendors, the general public, and elected officials and representatives to provide accurate and accessible records.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS- Maintains correspondence with local, state, and federal officials and general public regarding grants programs. Coordinates grant activities with other departments to facilitate orderly workflow.
- Assists with financial budget process associated with awarded grants including establishing, reconciling, monitoring grant budgets, and analyzing status.
- Monitors the grant expenditures/charges – reviews projects’ expected expenditures to ensure progress within the approved budget.
- Prepares federal, state and local reports as required by granting agencies.
- Assists with compliance of grant/funding requirements by monitoring grant performance, identifying problems and possible solutions, working with departments to implement corrective action plans, ensuring permanent grant records and official files are properly maintained according to federal/state retention regulations.
- Assists and provides data to internal and external auditors.
- As Required Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education: BA/BS from accredited college in a course of study related to the occupational fields of Accounting or Finance

Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in Accounting, Finance or Grant Administration. One (1) of two (2) years in a governmental setting is preferred; or any combination of experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of budget preparation, review and analysis procedures, problem solving and interpersonal relations.
- Familiarity with computerized financial and accounting systems, relevant federal, state, and local laws and county policies and procedures, governmental accounting and financial management.
- Interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Mastery of personal computers and standard software operation
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of principles and practices of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Finance and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
Certification: Prefer CPA, CGFM, or CPFO
