The School of Education at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, invites applicants for a 10-month full-time Non-Tenure Track Clinical faculty position / Field Placement Coordinator beginning August 2025. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities primarily include the following areas :
- Placement recruitment and management (e.g., overseeing student teaching contracts, supporting faculty with practicum placements, etc.)
- Development and maintenance of program materials (handbooks, content for website, candidate and program data, documents related to admission to the program and to student teaching, etc.)
- Student support and orientation (including admission to the program and student teaching as well as intervention as needed)
- Evaluation and documentation of field experiences and student teaching
- Professional development or training for Cooperating Teachers and University Supervisors
- Collaboration with other program leadership
- Collaboration with the Certification Officer to develop working knowledge about certification requirements in South Dakota, as well as regulations that govern field and clinical placements
- Communication and liaison among all stakeholders
- Supervision of student teachers (requires valid driver’s license and travel within the region)
Responsibilities also include recruiting and advising students; engaging in professional development; providing service to the University and profession; engaging in program assessment and evaluation related to professional standards, etc.
Responsibilities may include teaching an undergraduate course in Education. Specific courses will be assigned based on the candidate’s background and expertise; however, are likely to include a foundational course in education or an upper level methods course.
Qualifications : Master’s degree in Education or a related area is required; a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in K-12 education; capacity to engage in professional development and service; and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are a must.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
