What are the responsibilities and job description for the SURGERY TECH - SURGERY position at Aultman Health Foundation?
Basic Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, Perioperative Coordinator/Educator, OR Charge RN and Staff RN, the Surgical Technician assists in the care and preparation of the patient for surgery. The Surgical Technician anticipates the needs of the surgeon in instrumentation, suture, sponges and supplies while passing instruments during surgical procedure.
Takes call as assigned by the Director of Surgical Services. Must maintain BLS certification. Responsibilities include:
Education, Training and Experience:
Successful completion of one or more of the following:
- A Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) may perform scrubbing duties. Certification is not required but preferred.
- A Surgical Technologist with previous on the job training must have at least 1-year experience.
- A Surgical Technologist without previous on the job training must have completed an accredited Surgical Technologist Program. Surgical Technologist Certification is preferred.
- A Surgical Technician must achieve Surgical Technician Certification to enter a Surgical Assisting program.
- Maintains current BLS Certification.
- Previous experience required.
Must be computer-literate to complete task (s), as required.
