Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will have contact with senior-level staff which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Own the close process for monthly and quarter closes in accordance with SEC deadlines
- Prepare/Review monthly schedules for the close, book journal entries, contact vendors for estimates and ensure that all monthly transactions are reported accurately, and that record keeping is maintained.
- Have experience and a strong understanding of CMC accruals.
- Have an understanding of Intercompany accounting.
- Review bi-weekly payroll calculations and AP operations.
- Review cash payments through banking
- Manage SOX controls matrix to ensure controls are operating effectively and process owners/reviewers are performing their control tasks
- Manage tax and other filings for the end of the year such as 1099 reporting and sales tax
- Work with the SVP of Finance and Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit, maintaining schedules and support throughout the year to assist at audit time. Each month, updating amortizations and backup relating to schedules.
- Respond quickly to auditor requests for information at audit time.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Understand and own key accounting systems to ensure operations are efficient
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA preferred. 7 years industry experience.
- Bio-tech industry and Public Company Experience Preferred
Salary & Benefit Information:
Salary Range: $120,000/yr - $150,000/yr
(Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to: geographic location, degree, years of experience, and internal company equity)
