Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lab Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations in Louisville, KY. The Lab Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing lab personnel, maintaining equipment, overseeing inventory, and supporting research or testing activities. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to optimize lab workflows efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations & Compliance
- Supervise daily operations of the lab, ensuring efficiency and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Implement and enforce laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Ensure all lab certifications, permits, and documentation are up to date.
Personnel Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate lab technicians and support staff.
- Assign tasks, manage schedules, and provide professional development opportunities.
- Promote a collaborative and productive work environment.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Ensure the lab is stocked with necessary materials by managing procurement and inventory control.
- Coordinate with vendors for supplies, repairs, and service contracts.
Research & Quality Control
- Support ongoing research, testing, or clinical studies by ensuring adherence to protocols.
- Develop and implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of accuracy and reproducibility.
- Analyze data, generate reports, and assist in preparing publications or regulatory submissions if required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related). Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, safety regulations, and compliance standards (OSHA, CLIA, CAP, etc.).
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage staff and liaise with stakeholders.
- Proficient in MediaLab.
- Proficiency in lab management software and data analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in clinical diagnostics laboratory.
- Knowledge of CLIA and CAP regulations.
- Project management experience and budget oversight.
