What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recruiter position at AURA?
The Recruiter will support full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition strategies across various departments and functions. This role will ensure a high-quality candidate experience, effective stakeholder collaboration, and alignment with organizational hiring goals across AURA NSF-Funded Centers.
Essential Functions
Full-Cycle Recruitment

Manage the entire recruitment process for a variety of roles, including management, administrative, scientific, engineering, and other positions.

Conduct candidate pre-screening, interviews, evaluations, reference checks, and employment offer approvals.

Drive interview scheduling and hiring committee coordination; ensure seamless onboarding in collaboration with HR partners.
Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with hiring managers and hiring committees to define job duties and develop recruitment strategies.

Facilitate job intake meetings, define end-to-end selection processes, and maintain clear communication throughout recruitment.

Provide updates and insights to HR leadership and hiring teams using tools like JIRA and recruitment dashboards.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners, hiring managers, and other key stakeholders.
Sourcing and Outreach

Use creative sourcing techniques, including social media, digital platforms, and direct outreach, to engage active and passive candidates.

Represent AURA at career fairs, professional associations, community networking initiatives and events.

Support university outreach programs and contribute to building AURA’s talent pipeline.
Candidate Experience & Employer Branding

Promote AURA’s employer value proposition to candidates, employees, and external stakeholders.

Ensure a positive and engaging candidate experience throughout the hiring process.

Serve as a recruitment ambassador, upholding service excellence and brand alignment.
Recruitment Metrics and Compliance

Track and report on recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, service quality, cost-per-hire, and candidate satisfaction.

Ensure compliance with all internal policies and government regulations related to recruitment.

Maintain accurate documentation in applicant tracking systems and HR tools.

All AURA employees are responsible for the proper management and control of all AURA property within their work area, whether assigned to them or someone else. This responsibility includes reporting any known missing, stolen, or non-working property in their work area to their supervisor or the AURA Property Officer

Responsible for ensuring compliance with government award terms and conditions assigned to this position or subordinates of this position as defined in the Vela Award Management system.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience including full-cycle recruitment experience for hard-to-fill positions such as scientific, engineering, or technical.

Proficient in applicant tracking systems (e.g., UKG-UltiPro, Taleo), or other HR systems.

Strong knowledge of recruitment tools or other technology tools.

Ability to leverage data and metrics to drive recruitment strategies.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams and cultures.

Service-oriented, detail-focused, organized, and proactive.

Skilled in cultivating candidate pipelines and effectively closing offers.

Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and copiers. The work environment is generally quiet and may involve working in close proximity to others, depending on the needs of the specific function.

- Some travel may be necessary in or outside the contiguous United States including travel to the various observatory sites (Arizona, Chile and Hawai`i).
- Occasional work at high elevation summit sites may be required (summit elevations range from 6,800 feet to 14,000 feet).

Salary Range
$65,000 - $75,000. The final salary will depend on skills, qualification, experience and job location.
