At Aurecon, we are looking for a passionate and innovative Lead Power Systems Engineer to join our Energy Team, Power Transmission & Distribution team in Brisbane. Key Responsibilities to Bring Ideas to Life 🚀 💡
In this role, you will be an integral part of our Energy business, collaborating with a team of skilled specialists to bring ideas to life for clients across a wide range of energy infrastructure projects, including renewable power generation, battery storage initiatives, and optimizing transmission and distribution systems. The work we do is crucial to global economic development, and it is the technical expertise and depth of knowledge within our team that truly sets us apart.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and executing projects, providing technical support, and mentoring a team of engineers in performing power system studies, supporting planning studies, grid connection projects, and analysing results to explain observed system behaviours.
Advising clients on power generation projects, energy storage solutions, and power network operations, while collaborating with external clients, network service providers, and AEMO.
Working within Australia’s largest community of specialists in power systems analysis and planning, driving innovation and delivering high-quality, timely advice on power system operations and development in increasingly complex technical environments.
What We’re Looking For 🔍
Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone who actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also be degree-qualified and have at least 10-15 years of post-graduation experience in a power industry role, whether as a consultant or power project developer/owner/operator.
A strong understanding of electrical engineering and power systems theory will be essential for this role. Experience with power system modelling software, such as PSSE, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory, is preferred and will support your success in this role. Site and practical experience with power systems behavior are also advantageous, and experience with protection and primary systems design will be highly valued.
A sound knowledge of the National Electricity Rules and the grid connection process across the NEM is required.
