What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Power Systems Engineer position at Aurecon Australasia Pty Ltd?
In this position you will join our Energy business, with a focus on supporting the decarbonisation revolution, and in particular decarbonisation of the WA resource and utility energy systems.
You will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of energy infrastructure - from developing connection asset for new power projects such as large-scale renewable power generation and large energy storage projects.

Advise our clients on the network planning and connection of renewable power generation projects, energy storage projects, islanded grids and transmission level power networks operation
join one of the largest Australian community of specialists in grid scale renewable power generation and energy storage, and in mining rail and fleet decarbonisation, to work collaboratively across the business and with clients bringing diverse skillsets together and innovation to complex problems
be responsive to client’s needs and have a reputation for quality and timely advice, providing planning advice to our clients on their power generation assets operation and development
lead the industry with the deployment of innovative projects in the energy storage and inverters-based generation markets in an increasingly challenging technical environment

assist in developing conceptual design specifications, plan and profiles including, insulator selection, design criteria, conductor selection and basis of design
provide project and technical support for current internal projects and greenfield prospects and actively participate in development activities, including meeting with renewables, visiting landowners, and associated design activities.
What we are looking for:
Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also be degree qualified and have post-graduation experience in a transmission and distribution role, as a consultant or as a developer/owner/contractor.
You have an electrical engineering background with prior experience in industry standard line design software. Understanding of structural and civil design of steel and lattice towers for high voltage transmission lines in the transmission utilities / electricity sector would be well regarded.
You are conversant in the design of transmission assets at 132 kV level and above. Experience in NWIS power systems and/or SWIS power systems is a plus.
You are capable of producing requirements for electrical hardware and check assembly drawings in accordance with Client specifications.
HV / LV / Third party co-ordination experience will be desirable
Previous consultancy experience including direct engagement with clients will be a plus in this role. Site and practical experience are also valued experience for this role.
Transmission Line Construction and Commissioning experience will be viewed favourably
Exposure and understanding of insulation coordination and Electromagnetic Compliance requirements will be seen as beneficial.
