Aurora High School - Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Vacancy
Aurora High School is now accepting applications for the position of Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking a passionate, driven, and student-centered leader for the basketball program.
The Aurora Houn' Dawgs have competed in the last three district championship games, claiming the 2025 District Championship and the most recent Big 8 Conference Title. We are looking for a leader who can build upon this success, foster a culture of teamwork and sportsmanship, and inspire our student-athletes to grow both on and off the court.
Aurora R-VIII School District operates on a four-day school week (Monday–Thursday) and offers competitive benefits, a supportive school community, and a proud tradition of athletic achievement.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program
- Commitment to fostering a positive, competitive, and team-oriented culture
- Knowledge of MSHSAA rules and regulations
- Ability to collaborate with administration, staff, and community stakeholders
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the boys' basketball program, including varsity, JV, freshman, and Junior High levels. Involvement in development of a youth program.
- Develop student-athletes in skill, character, and academic achievement
- Organize and execute effective practice plans and game strategies
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and the Aurora community
- Collaborate with the Activities Director and coaching staff to promote overall program success
- Manage program budget, equipment, and fundraising efforts
- Enforce academic and behavioral expectations for all student-athletes
Compensation & Benefits:
