About the Aurora Chamber of Commerce:

Position Summary:
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Chamber and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing daily operations, managing programs, and representing the Chamber in the community. This individual will work closely with the Board of Directors, Chamber members, local government, and community stakeholders to promote business prosperity in Aurora.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Chamber that aligns with its mission and goals. Work closely with the Board of Directors to set priorities and implement initiatives.
- Membership Development & Engagement: Recruit, retain, and engage members by delivering valuable resources, programs, and networking opportunities. Actively seek new businesses to join and benefit from Chamber membership.
- Advocacy & Community Relations: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Chamber, advocating for the interests of the business community with local government and other stakeholders. Foster strong relationships with city officials, local organizations, and community leaders.
- Event Planning & Program Management: Oversee and coordinate Chamber events, such as community events like Bands on the Bricks; Scare the Square; and Come Home to Christmas; Hamilton County Leadership Academy, ribbon cuttings, and community engagement initiatives. Develop programs that support business growth and growing the local economy.
- Financial Management & Fundraising: Manage the Chamber’s budget, including financial planning, reporting, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Identify and secure sponsorships, grants, and other funding opportunities to support Chamber programs and initiatives.
- Marketing & Communications: Oversee Chamber communications, including Weekley eblast, website updates, and social media presence. Ensure consistent branding and effective outreach to members and the community.
- Board Relations & Governance: Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates, preparing reports, and implementing Board-approved policies. Assist in Board development and leadership training.
Qualifications:
- Experience in business administration, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in leadership, business development, nonprofit management, or community engagement.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in fundraising, event planning, or financial management is a plus.
- Passion for supporting local businesses and community development.
