Position Summary: 

The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales performance and managing customer relationships through direct interaction, strategic planning, and independent judgment. This position focuses on individual sales success, collaborating with other departments to align strategies, and optimizing processes to maximize revenue generation.  This role requires excellent sales acumen, leadership skills, and a data-driven approach to achieve ambitious sales goals. The ideal candidate must have the ability to exercise discretion, and independent judgment when navigating various decisions that influence team performance, strategy, and customer relations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  •  Customer Growth and Retention:
    • Analyze the assigned customer base to identify growth opportunities and underperforming accounts.
    • Develop and execute targeted sales strategies to re-engage inactive customers and increase revenue from low-performing accounts. 
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers to ensure retention and satisfaction.
    • Ability to exercise the use of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction and retention.
    • Use CRM tools to track leads, monitor sales performance, and manage pipelines.
    • Resolve conflicts or complaints from customers with tact and professionalism. 
  • Sales Strategy and Execution:
    • Collaborate with the sales leadership team to create and implement tailored sales plans for the assigned customer base.
    • Conduct outbound calls, emails, and virtual meetings to upsell, cross-sell, and expand account penetration.
    • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to track progress against goals and adjust tactics as necessary. 
  • Negotiation and Problem-Solving
    • Use discretion to navigate negotiations with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
    • Resolve sales challenges creatively while considering both customer needs and company priorities.
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership:
    • Work closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams to align efforts and deliver a seamless customer experience.
    • Provide feedback and insights to internal teams on customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape.  
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare regular sales forecasts and performance reports to communicate progress and challenges to leadership.
    • Leverage data analytics to make informed decisions and optimize sales efforts. 
  • Decision-Making and Critical Thinking
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
    • Assess situations independently, balancing short-term needs with long-term strategic goals.
    • Apply judgment to determine when to escalate issues or address them independently. 
  • Adaptability and Resilience
    • Thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, adapting strategies as market conditions shift.
    • Stay resilient in the face of setbacks and maintain a positive attitude to motivate the team. 

Qualifications:  

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in inside sales, account management, or a related role, with a proven track record of success in growing underperforming accounts.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, or Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Preferred.
  • Position will be remote and require a high level of personal accountability. The candidate will focus on Inside-Out selling and have the flexibility to travel 20% to support Trade shows, industry events, and periodic in-person customer visits.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to identify opportunities and close deals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in using CRM software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, HubSpot) and other sales tools.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.
