Sign Fabricator
Department: Metal Fabrication
JOB SUMMARY:
Metal Fabrication is tasked with manufacturing of all types of custom signs including Monuments, Pylons, Pan Signs, Cabinet Signs, Directionals, Halo Letters, Routed Panels, Raceways, Wireways, etc., illuminated, and non-illuminated. Required to operate welders, hand tools, power tools and light metal machines such as shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses. Fabrication includes fitting and joining sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, and similar products to create signs. Must have ability to multi-task, problem solve and communicate effectively with Department Lead, production team and management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:
· Review shop tickets and drawings to ensure that required information and material is available before starting a project.
· Organize and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
· Manufacture signs and assemble according to drawing specifications, ensuring the highest levels of Quality are met
o Consistently review jobs to detect and resolve errors or changes needed for manufacturing and promptly report to the Department Lead to ensure that drawings and other departments are notified of changes
o Plan and execute manufacture of serviceable, shippable, and easily installable signs for all sign types
o Take precise measurements ensuring that all parts are properly fitted, aligned, welded, bolted, caulked, and screwed to maintain a structurally sound product
o Properly label all parts with correct Job Number and Job Name
o Minor prep including grinding and sanding of parts to prepare for paint
· Loading and unloading materials on to and off workstations
· Set up, knowledge, and safe operation of all equipment, including welders, power saws, shears, brakes, punches, drill presses, etc.
· Understands and has basic welding skills for fabrication of primarily aluminum, and sometimes steel
· Picking proper materials for production and determine parts layout for proper size, cutting, notching, and sheering for optimum usage of material and keep waste to a minimum
· Utilize a variety of hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, clamps, measuring and calibration tools.
· Basic math skills for measuring and checking drawings
· Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area
o Organize Tools & Materials
· Communicate with Department Lead about job progress, due dates and any issues that may occur
· Monitor adequate inventory level for tools and materials, anticipate needs, and advise Department Lead when low to avoid interruption of workflow.
· Maintain equipment and tools that they are in good working condition by performing daily, weekly machine PM’s
o Sharpening and replacing worn tools
o Report on issues, malfunctions, or defective parts.
o Coordinate with Department Lead to set up schedule for preventative maintenance and annual inspections of equipment
· Quality Control (QC) sign off for all items leaving Metal Fabrication area
· Maintain accurate timecard daily with each Job Number, Job Name, and amount of time by Labor Department Number(s)
· Sign off on Shop Order/Job Tickets when job is complete and turn in when job is complete
· Demonstrate good work ethic and working relationship with co-workers
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

Pay: $20.00 - $33.50 per hour
